On Choosing Growth

“You are either growing or dying. Stagnation does not exist in the universe.”

– Steve Siebold

Welcome to a new Unpack! This week’s quote is from author, mental toughness expert and self-made millionaire Steve Siebold.

Are you growing or dying?

I think it’s safe to say that if you’re reading this, you’ve chosen the path of growth. You want to expand yourself and I suspect reading this is part of your expansion plan.

But are there areas of your life where you feel like you’re going nowhere? Maybe you even feel like you’re going backward. It could be that your relationship has become a chore, perhaps you’re no longer advancing in your career like you did, or friendships that were once strong are now fragile. Whatever area it might be, when you cease growing in an area of life, it very quickly begins to die.

It’s almost never intentional, but therein lies the problem. Growth is intentional. It requires you to leave your comfort zone, over, and over, and over, and never stop. When we neglect intention in a part of our life, it doesn’t stay constant, rather it starts to die.

So, the key is to keep moving. Any step you take toward something is a step toward growth. Toward becoming the next level you. Toward making the most of yourself.

If you want to stop the dying, it’s time to be intentional and take action. It doesn’t have to be “massive action”. It just has to be a step in the direction of your ideal self.

And guess what? In the process you will be letting those around you know that it’s ok for them to grow too. That you aren’t someone who will resent their moving forward, but rather encourage and support those you love toward becoming their own ideal selves.

That’s definitely something I can get behind. What about you?

Have a wonderful week,

Jen x
