On Desire.

“The starting point of all achievement is desire.”

– Napoleon Hill

Time for another Unpack! Our quote today is from American self help author Napoleon Hill.

If you think back to everything your achieved in your life, right back to when you decided to do something, you’ll see that desire is what started the ball rolling. Whether you lost weight and got fit, bought a house, got a new job or finished school, you would never have done any of it without first having the desire to.

Just a few weeks ago we learned that desire is an essential component of any successful change, but as Hill asserts, it’s really where it all starts.

So the important question is, what do you desire?

If you’re like most people, you probably have a better idea of what you don’t want, than what you do. But the key to creating a life you love is having a burning desire, and that starts with a clear vision.

A great way to figure out what you really want is to think about what your Ideal Average Day looks like. Not a day where you sit by the pool and sip cocktails all day, but rather a day that you could live over and over and be satisfied. A life that you wouldn’t feel the need to escape from.

To work it out, ask yourself questions about what you do in a day and decide what the answers would be based in your ideal world. Here are a few questions to get you started:

Where would you live?

What would your house look like?

What would you have for breakfast? Lunch? Dinner?

Who do you spend time with?

What do you spend your time on in the morning? Afternoon? Evening?

What conversations are you having?

I’m sure you can come up with many more and the clearer you get on the answers the more focused your desire can become. And since energy flows where focus goes you’ll be taking a huge leap toward achieving what you want.

What’s your burning desire?

Have a wonderful week!
